Amber alerts now squealing through my phone,
they’re chasing me down at home, in case I missed
the signs on the freeway or
the news on the tv and the internet,
they’re worried I’ll stumble upon a
childknapper, unprepared.
Perhaps in the dark,
fumbling for a glass of water.
Perhaps awaking to use the restroom at night:
flipping on the light switch and my white bathroom gleams
so bright with me and a young girl and a man holding a license plate and I know
exactly what to do.
