review policy

I always give honest reviews:

I only review books I find interesting or noteworthy. Opinions are entirely my own, and I’m never compensated for reviews on Kalireads.com. As I have mega-respect for all authors’ work, if I dislike something I usually pass on reviewing it on my blog entirely.

I do accept books for consideration for review, but this doesn’t affect my opinions of the books–my reviews are a mix of books I’ve purchased, borrowed from the library, received as gifts, and received as promotional galleys. I always read what I like, and recommend what I like, regardless of the source.

If you have a book you’d like me to consider:

If you have a book you want me to take a gander at, which is similar to those I’ve reviewed previously on this blog, please feel free to e-mail me at kalispotlight@gmail.com or contact me online and I’ll be happy to consider it for future review.

I won’t review any romance as it just isn’t my thing! I love a great well-written, proofread mystery novel. I’ve currently had my fill of international, political, action-filled spy thrillers–not sure why I get so many requests for them. Also, I have much more time for listening to books (via an Audible download code) than I do for reading, so I’m much more open to giving books a chance if they are available in audio format.

As I mentioned above, I’m always honest, and just because I agree to read your book doesn’t mean I’ll like it or review it on the blog. I try to respond to all requests, and give feedback to each book I do take on and complete, whether on the blog or off of it. If you haven’t heard back from me in a while, feel free to follow up, as sometimes I’m reading about twenty things at once and things slip off my radar.
